Game overview

A first-person automation sandbox on a void sea

Nightwater landscape with a glowing lighthouse tower against a purple dusk sky

Nightwater is a first-person sandbox from Studio Ashty, published with Irox Games. You wake on a solitary island floating in a sea of liquid void and starlight, with a broken lighthouse on the horizon. Forage wood, stone, clay, wheat, and ore by hand, then build harvesters, assemblers, chests, and pipes so the factory keeps working while you explore. Progress through primitive tools, the Bronze Age, and the Industrial Era, then manifest new biomes for unique resources. Five optional minigames, including the Dark Thicket, grant extra buildings and buffs. The story is optional: anyone can reach the end, but only players who hunt clues unlock all four endings. Read the getting started guide, try the Steam demo, then study automation, resources, and the release date.

Quick start

New to the island? Follow these steps before the full launch.

  1. 1

    Wishlist and install the demo

Open Nightwater on Steam, wishlist the full game, and download the free demo. Confirm your PC meets the system requirements (Windows 10 64-bit, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1650-class GPU, 10 GB storage).

  2. 2

    Learn the first-hour loop

Follow the getting started guide, how to play, and controls. Punch trees and rocks in The Woods, hit early wood and stone milestones, then craft planks, gears, and a primitive chest. If a quota stalls you, read early game tips.

  3. 3

    Automate before you grind

Read the automation guide and the buildings list. Place a wooden harvester, a primitive pipe, and a chest so wood keeps flowing while you explore.

  4. 4

    Expand biomes and minigames

Use the biomes walkthrough to manifest new land, then enter the Dark Thicket minigame for extra buffs. Machines keep running while you are away.

  5. 5

Hunt the Lighthouse on your terms

The story is optional. If you want secrets and all four endings, use the Lighthouse guide. For launch timing, see the release date.
